X-Files Easter Egg - It's Been Nice Working with You

In the episode, "Die Hand de Verletzt," which is the one about school administrators and teachers who were demon worshipers, there is a message written in chalk on Mrs. Paddock's blackboard after she disappears at the end. It says something like "It's been nice working with you." This reference was to writers Morgan and Wong leaving the show to begin work on "Space: Above and Beyond." This episode was their last X-Files episode.

Hmmm....you sure it's not just part of the plot? Seemed to me that it was there to indicate that Mulder and Scully had just been pawns in the end. Don't know if there's anything deeper to be read into it.

Actually, they address that in a "Behind the Truth" (or whatever they're called) videos. Someone in the crew (or the writers) wrote it, and they just kept it on the board during filming. It's right under the eerily foreshadowing phrase, "The X-files will suck after Season 3" (ok, that's a lie...but it's true!)

No...what happened (according to Chris Carter) was that it was written as part of the story, but it was also a message to the crew, so it worked on two levels, one to enhance the episode, one to thank the crew.

Don't listen to the other comments. You are right about the message on the board.
