Aladdin (Disney) Easter Egg - The French Fry Maker

That's not a bong. I've been to the arabic region, and it is just used to smoke REGULAR tobacco products. To them, our cigarettes are not strong enough. In fact they do not smoke marajuana there.

When he explains the product he calls it a combination hooka and coffee maker (also makes julianne fries). As any of you smokers should know any form of a pipe can be considered a bong and another name for bong is Hooka.

A Hooka is not a bong. Its no where close to even the same construction. Is a microwave an oven because both can heat up food? No... so just because you can smoke out of a bang as well as a Hooka pipe, they are not one in the same. This easter egg is terrible anyway.

Its called a nergileh. It is from the middle east and it is used to smoke anything, including dried apples, strawberries, and other sweetened fruits (a middle eastern delicacy!)

For all you of little intelligence and a great need to gossip, its not a bong its called shisha, and its basically a huge version of a smoking pipe. how do i know, well i have used one to smoke honeyed apples, but also cause i have lived most of my life in Saudia Arabia...where smoking drugs is forbidden by law and religion. I have one word..think.

Couple of points: 1) Though it may not be a bong, it most certainly isn't a "french-fry" maker! 2) In Egypt, a water pipe is called a sheesha (shisha). In Turkey, it is called a nergilah. In general, most people in the Middle East also know it as a hookah. 3) The hookah is used for smoking tobocca, it's true. Tobacco purchased specifically for it comes sopping wet with molasses or honey, and can be flavored with apple, apricot, strawberry, and other flavors. However, it is also very possible to smoke hashish with a hookah, as is very common in Dahab, Egypt. It's illegal, mind you, but it's done.

The "little guy" in the intro to the movie is actually voiced by Robin Williams who provides the voice of the Genie. There's a useless fact for you!

Also Consider the word Hashish, it is and has always been very popular in the middle east. Check the manner in which it is revealed. quite furtive. Fried is another way of saying extremely stoned. Taking into consideration the cultural references of the films target audience, I`d say his is definitely drug related. I find it quite strange that people think smoking tobacco is somehow more moral than smoking pot. Neither should be in a kids film.

Actually, it doesn't really matter that they have a hookah in the movie. Little kids won't know what it's for, and if they do, at that point it won't matter that they saw it in a Disney movie.

Yes, Jason you are most certainly correct. I am 100% sure that no one in the "Arabic Region" has ever smoked marijuana. Do you think hookahs are only used for tobacco-most definitely not!

for all of u who don't know, smoking is forbidden by relgion to the muslims, but they do smoke some sort of tobacco in a large water pipe called a nahrgila. which is very popular in family and friend gathering. it is not eligal, although it is stronger then a regular cigratte. when u smoke it, it makes u feel kinda high, but not pot like high

As for what it is, it’s a hookah! The so-called “Little Man” clearly says so! As for the function, any bong, water pipe, or in this case, hookah, can be used to smoke anything that is smoked in one or the other, but a water pipe has been known to reduce the risk of cancer, even compared to filtered cigarettes. All trivial knowledge aside, this comment section has been badly abused, and I take pity on you people who think that this is an important controversy!

When Jasmin enters one of the palice rooms to confront Jafar about arresting Aladdin, there is a bong on a couch or a bed looking sort of thing.

This is not the first time a hooka has been seen in a Disney film. In Alice in Wonderland, the Catapillar is smoking a hooka.

Quad, I think it's hilarious that you abuse the comment section for the purpose of telling others not to do the same thing. That aside, I don't think this really qualifies as an egg. The guy says "hooka" and with good hearing you can understand him. Interesting fact, but not an egg.

Ok. Here's my angle on this whole thing. The Hookah is a perfectly legal smoking device which originated in the Middle East in the 18th century, where it was originally used to smoke opium. The fact that it is shown (repeatedly) in "Aladdin" is just an attempt to get a more "arabic" feel. Jason I totally agree with you. Of course NO ONE in the "ARABIC REGON" has EVER smoked anything other than tobacco. Note sarcasm. No future.

To Papa Bear: If you have read the book Alice and Wonderland, the catipillar is smoking a hooka because he is in the book. It is not because Disney is trying to corrupt young minds. To all of you: Quit trying to blow something up 10 times bigger than it is. This is just a Disney movie, and not every little thing they do is done because they are bad or anything.

Ok. Look let me explain this to you all so you can just stop fussing over nonsense. A "bong" is a technically a water pipe (for tobacco purposes) but more commonly used for smoking marijuana. A hookah is something that, yes, is completely different. The common area for both of them is that they are NOT made for marijuana use, but you CAN smoke marijuana from both a hookah and a water pipe(aka bong). And so what if it is in a movie the kids are either going to recognize what it is or they aren't. If these things were put in there on purpose by Disney, it was just to give the adults something to laugh at in a kids movie. Which if you have kids you would know that if you are watching a movie with a kid once, you will be watching it about 300 more times....
