In the scene where Tintin meets Haddock, Snowy jumps through the window and lands on the table, frightening the Captain. Haddock jumps back and yells, "A giant rat of Sumatra!" This is a reference to Peter Jackson's "Braindead." It should be noted that Peter Jackson is one of the producers of the film.
