Look at the part where Aurthur and Ford are being tortured by (the strangely beautiful) poetry. In the backround you can see the council of the elders and behind them there is the orignal Marvin without a left arm

I just tried it, and couldn't spot Marvin. Perhaps you could be a bit more specific as to where or when he appears?

The original Marvin is not found in this scene. You need to go to the scene where Arthur, Ford and Zaphod queue to get Trisha released. He's in the queue with them.
