Half-Life Easter Egg - Christmas Day

Play tfc on 25th of December. A voice keeps shouting 'Merry Christmas' (all people connected to the server hear it at the same time), and it shows a funny saying. Also, grenades appear as wrapped presents!

Yes. Any date related easter-egg is produced by the game checking the system clock.

This works with TFC birthday, I can't remember whatit is, but it will probably work with easter to. But I aint tried that one out yet!!!

Actually, I'm into the mapping thing for TFC, and I've explored the pak files. Those pak files include all the sounds, models, levels, and almost everything else the game runs off of, that doesn't get edited as you play it (such as configs). Anyways, I explored the sounds part of the pak file, and the only holiday greetings are the "Merry Christmas!" and "Happy birthday to you!"

It cant work for easter, because the date is always different.

It is most likely to pick up the date on the server, rather than client-side. I'd be glad of further info, though as to whether I am correct or not.

If i remember right, i believe that the first game to do something like this was ROTT (Rise Of The Triad) a little history here: this was apoggee's response to ID's Doom. although id and apoggee worked together before and after doom, this was id only. i could be wrong here, if i am, please correct me.

The egg doesn't work if you change your system clock to 25. December because it uses the server date but if you change the date then create a server it sometimes works

It can be done with Admin Mod as well i think, i played on a server once that had christmas presents getting launched... and people saying Merry Christmas, and this was half way through last year
