Monkey Island 3 (Curse of Monkey Island) Easter Egg - Stump Joke Revisited

1.) Figure out how to "die" and be buried in the Goodsoup tomb.
2.) Once you escape from the stone coffin, "Examine the Crumbling hole" in the hallway.
3.) If done right, you should pop up back in the stump Monkey Island 1.
4.) This ties back to an old easter egg in the disk version of MI1.

To ACE: Since I have enjoyed this egg so many times already, and since it is a wonderful revisitation of the stump joke, I will tell you what you are doing wrong. If Guybrush says he can't squeeze through you are at the wrong end of the crypt. Try squeezing through the crack right next to your coffin, the one with all the rubble beneath it. Enjoy!

Examine the "Crumbling Hole", not the "crack" that looks into the gravedigger's house. I think it only works once (It's been awhile since I played it last).

The stump joke is way back from the first Monkey Island. You find a stump in the forest and click on it. Guybrush says something like "I think I can squeeze down a hole here". The computer then asks you to insert disk 11, theres no such thing so you press a button and it asks for disk 22 then disk 33 and 44. Then Guybrush says something along the lines of " I guess we can't play that part of the game". It had me thinking that there was something wrong with my game for a while.

I have tried to find the stump-joke in Secret of Monkey Island but I can't find the right stump! Can anyone give me directions on how to find the stump?

The original stump-joke only works in the floppy disk version of the game. The CD version programmers removed the stump joke, but I'm not sure why. I think it still would've been funny to see.

You can get the floppy disk version of Secret of Monkey Island on the July 2000 PCGAMER CD-ROM.

And that was only in the PC floppy version (3 1/2" only), wasn't in the Amiga version ('cos I had that)

Actually it was in the Amiga version. Guybrush said something along the lines of there appearing to be an intricate set of tunnels inside the stump but he couldn't get through... ahhhhh fond memories...

I think they removed it from the cd version is because someone might think that hey had to take out the cd and put in one of the other cd's from the value pack were you can get the two original games of monkey island. This would cause the game to crash. I guess Lucas Arts is looking out for the dumb.

Just to tell you, the stump thing works on the 5 and 1/4 floppy version to and the game asked for disk 1253 8473 2085 and 9765 or something like that (I just know they were way up there.)

The Egg works more than once, but Guybrush will not say the same thing again, the second time he will say something along the lines of "There's nothing interesting here" and will then crawl back out again.

In psychonauts it also says when he looks at a stump that he can squeeze trought. It's because Tim (i don't know how to spell it's surname) worked in the monkey island!
