Final Fantasy Easter Egg - Elfheim's Tomb

In Final Fantasy I when you visit Elfheim, press A on the left most tombstone behind the inn. It will say "Here lies Link."

For the people who doesn't know,Link is the main character from the game Legend of Zelda. Why the Easter Egg? When Final Fantasy was launched,Zelda was the most popular game. The developers probably thoght that the new game (Final Fantasy) would take Zelda's place in top selling.
Why is it cool? Zelda is an elf (duh).

Er, no. It's actually in multiple versions. I can read it in Origins. Also, in no way did they expect it to take Zeld'a top-seller place. The reason the game was called "Final" Fantasy was because they expected that to be their last game, as the company was going benkrupt. However, it DID end up becoming a top-seller and brought the company back from the brink of death.

In the original it said "here lies Edrick." Edrick was the name of the main character of dragon warriors in Japan (in remakes made later on his name was Loto.) So it had nothing to do with it taking over Zelda. In fact this was Square's final project, they were about to go out of business and this was their "Final" Fantasy, they did not expect this game to take off the way it did. (Sorry for the history lesson.)
