Twister Easter Egg - Cows in the Sky

In the famous shot where the cow goes flying past during one of the twister attacks, it's a reference to Wizard of Oz, where a cow goes flying by Dorothy's window while her farmhouse is yanked into the sky.

Incidentally, the falling building in Twister in the same scene is also part of the Wizard of Oz reference.

I believe the machine with the Pepsi cans in it was called Dorothy, though that was deliberate.

Yes, Dorothy was it's name. It was based on an actual weather experiment (which never worked) called Todo.

You can tell that they were thinking about the Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz thing because there was a picture of the Wizard of Oz Dorothy on the side of the thing.

Actually, the experiment did work. It just got a permanent (molecular) rearrangment by a friendly tornado it was studying. In the movie, The experiment goes INTO the tornado. In real life, it wasn't supposed to...

In the movie when the cows are swirling past,someone says look another cow. Someone else says that`s the same cow.It isn`t the same cow, unless it had a sex change. Also the word toto in the African language is a slang term for a woman`s vagina.
