Monkey Island 3 (Curse of Monkey Island) Easter Egg - Grim Fandango Ad

1. Make sure you've got the reservation for the chicken parlor. (Blondebeards café)
2. Once in the cafe, push the quiet patron.
Hey! It's Manny Calavera from Grim Fandango!
3. Look at the button he dropped.
4. "Talk" to Manny.

Enjoy!

Update: This is obviously a refernce to the first MI-game, where, in the Scumm-bar, you get to ask the old pirate Cobb about Loom, another game from Lucasarts (he wears an "ask me about loom" badge). He probaly sat there too long this time...

I only wish there was a way to ask him about it... if you only played the MI games to beat them and didn't take the time to use everything with every other thing, use the vantriloquist(s?) book with Manny... heh heh

I disagree with Dispator. Come On! It`s a totally different place. Can`t be a reference. And it isn`t an egg.

Now I didn't get this one, but even though it isn't in the same place it might be a reference. Now I suspect that the button says "Ask me about Grim Fandango" If it does it doesn't take much to see the reference to MI and Cobb.

It's an egg. Who says it has to be in the exact same place? It's the same idea——a salesman for LucasArts, sitting at a bar, with a button that says 'Ask me about (the currently big LucasArts game)'. Personally, I rather like it.

How did you not get this egg, Max_Rebo? It is obvious to talk to anything and everything in the game, unless you were following a walk-through. Were you?

Also, you can use the book you got from the back room of the theater on him. This egg may explain the way Manny died in Grim Fandango - you never find out anything about his past.

More on the whole "Loom" topic, Later in the game (at LeChuck's Carnival) Guybrush tells LeChuck that he can't kill him because if he did there would be no more Monkey Island sequels. LeChuck then says something along the lines of "I don't quite get what you mean" then Guybrush says "Ever heard of Bobbin Threadabore?" LeChuck then says "no" and Guybrush says "Exactly". Bobbin Threadabore is the lead character out of Loom (which had no sequels). Perhaps the LucasArts people were playing Loom when they made The Curse Of Monkey Island.

1st off, it's 'Thredabare', not 'Threadabore'. 2nd: I don't get it-at the end of 'Loom', Bobbin didn't kill Chaos (the head bad-guy of 'Loom'), he just split the universe in half, standing Chaos and himself on opposite ends of the tear. How is that like Guybrush killing LeChuck?

still typo-ed. It's Threadbare. (because he can't weave well...)
