Dogma Easter Egg - One Side Red

When Jason Lee is talking to Jay, Silent Bob and his co-horts, just before he tells Silent Bob to hit him with the golf club, he utters the phrase, "One side, red". The same phrase he muttered in Mallrats while cutting to the front of the line waiting to get Stan Lee's autograph.

It's just a reference. I think the guy from Mallrats was wearing a red shirt or something.

The phrase is, "Move aside, Red." It's like saying, "Get out of the way."

It is just yet another re-referance put in many movies just like Jaws in every movie, Hockey in every movie and when william snaps out of his trance by the magic eye poster he says "poopietrim" and Rufus says the same when he wakes up on the train in Dogma. It might not mean anything. It's just there.

It is actually a little-known fact of how the 'poopietrim' idea came to be... I had the privilage of meeting Mr. Smith at MegaCon 2002 where he explained this. When he was a young man, the term 'trim' was a way of referring to a woman's sexual organs. It was popular slang. He enjoys making his characters say strange things when they wake up or do something outlandish, and in this case, he was discussing Trim with one of the people on set and came up with poopietrim, or ass sex. He found this funny, as did the fellow he was talking to, and so he wrote 'poopietrim' into the script. Funny, yes?

The phrase actually is "One side Red" not "Move aside Red." If you turn on closed captioning or subtitles on the DVD you will see this.

actually, in mallrats, when Willam wakes up, he doesn't say "poopietrim". I know because I watch all my movies with closed captioning on. He says something else, but I don't really remember what it was.

Kevin Refers to Poopietrim in the director's comments during the movie in Dogma. He claims he put this phrase & another one in "just to make his script supervisor laugh." The other phrase came soon after this one. Jay is passed out, then wakes up saying "I didn't come on you Pete, I swear." This is a reference to his script supervisor's boyfriend, Pete. All to make her laugh

I don't know whether he says "move aside red" or "one side red" (either way it can be taken to mean the same thing) but a note on closed captioning -- DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ.

To clear up a few things. Both Rufus and Willam say "Poopietrim" according to Kevin Smith. And Azrael says "One side, red" in Dogma, also according to Kevin Smith.
