Ramones, The Easter Egg - Meet the Family
When forming the original punk band we endearingly refer to as The Ramones, let's know one thing.
Paul Mc Cartney who used to play in a band called The Beatles (before he had a band called Wings when he let his wife sing and play an instrument) was the rock and roll hero to young street urchins from NYC.
To honor him, the boys decided to name themselves after him!! Kinda-sorta, Paul had himself credited in liner notes on an album that he made with a friend back in the early seventies. As a sideman he played guitar as Paul Ramon.
(Anyone recall the album??)
GABBA-GABBA HEY!! GABBA-GABBA HEY!! That stage call and response from the Ramones stage was from the original "Freaks". When the freaks in the film initiated a young woman into their brotherhood so she could marry a circus midget for his money, this was spoken to her by the group.
Get it??
They told the crowd at their early concerts that they were freaks too. This pre-dated the punk movement.
