Illustrator Easter Egg - Ask the Symbol Palette
1. Open the Symbols palette, and set the palette to display in either Small List View or Large List View, so that you can see the symbol names.
2. Open or create any document
3. Select any symbol in the palette, and double-click on it to rename it to exactly "Teri's daughter's". (Case-sensitive, straight apostrophes.)
4. Double-click on that same symbol again, and rename it to some word or short phrase that might logically follow "Teri's daughter's", such as "name" or "eye color".
Instead of renaming the symbol to the name you typed in, it will treat it as a query, and rename the symbol to the answer (if it is in the lookup table), or to a random failure reply if it is not.
For repeated queries, it is easiest to Undo your renaming action so that the symbol reverts to "Teri's daughter's", because the Easter Egg only works when that is the current name of the symbol. Renaming a symbol that was once named "Teri's daughter's" but is now the name of some lookup reply will just revert to normal naming behavior. (Otherwise it would be difficult to leave the game and restore a normal name.)
After a certain number of lookup failures, instead of ordinary failure messages it will start giving hints as to what is in the database, such as "You haven't asked about her favorite food yet."
I am the author of this Easter Egg. I put it in mainly so that my daughter could show off to her friends that she had an Easter Egg devoted to her.
