Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Easter Egg - Hunter's Cameo

Okay... our beloved narrator Hunter S. Thompson (Johnny Depp) is having a flashback scene of San Fransisco in the 60's...
He's tripping in the bar and reeling around as people flash by him....
Sitting at a table in a hawaiian shirt and panama is the REAL Hunter S. Thompson... Depp sees him and says "Mother of God, There I am!"

Ahaha. I was wondering what he was talking about. I remember him saying that, but I couldn't see Depp anywhere. Pretty cool.

Technically, Depp isn't playing Hunter S. Thompson, he's playing Raoul Duke, Thompson's alter-ego, and the inspiration of the character of "Duke" in the Doonesbury comic strip.

Alright, this is just a little correction. As he is walking and reminiscing (or however the hell you spell it) he says "...so there I was...holy sh*t...there I am..."

There is a bit of confusion for people with this so I want to try to clear things up. Johnny Depp IS the actor playing the main character of this film. The guy sitting at the table during this scene is the REAL Hunter S. Thompson. The line is as follows: "1965 - The great San Francisco acid wave. I recall one night in a place called 'The Matrix'- There I was. Mother of God, There I am!" Hunter S. Thompson appears in the film at exactly 51 minutes and 12 seconds into the movie. -Dayquil
