Matrix, The Easter Egg - More Synthetizers

The 303 is not the only synthetizer name appearing in the film. 101 (the other room number) could be a reference to Roland SH-101, another analog acid machine. Trinity is the name of a series of keyboards by Korg, Morpheus is a MIDI sound module by E-MU. The Matrix itself is not only another name for cyberspace, but also an analog synthetizer by Korg.

"Morpheus," is the Roman God of change. Perhaps refering to the psychological change undergone by people he brings through. It is a change to try and understand the matrix. Matrices are Mathematical Groupings of numbers arranged into rows and columns. Just thought maybe you'd like to know.

... and room 101 is actually a very famous room from the book "1984". As a synthesizer fan myself I would say it's a nice try, but no - it is not an egg.

Actually, Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams and sleep. In the movie, the Matrix has everyone asleep and in a dream.

The Matrix-6 and Matrix-12 synthesizers were made by Oberheim, not Korg.

A matrix is the center of the mitochondria, which is what provides the energy for every cell in your body. The jars are shaped somewhat like mitochondria, and the people are being compared to the center, or the matrix.

A matrix isn't only in rows and columns. Technically, matrices can have an infinite number of dimensions. Things just get really fudgy when you try to go past three.

Well, personally I don't believe all these names were originally meant to be synthetizer references. Rather I'd believe that someone noticed those synthetizer brands and added 303 (I think it's the only one that does not have other explanation) just to complete the line.

A matrix can also be no more than a simple grid.

There's a special synth called "Matrisequencer", but the only owner of this synth/sequencer is the famous synthesizer-legend Jean Michel Jarre. Matrisequencer was built by Jarre's mixer-man Michel Geiss. But Matrix and Matrisequencer are more a bit like a coincident, I guess... PS. Roland TB-303 and Roland EG-101... Both Rolands. hmmm...

O.K. - some answers you will find in any dictionary :- 1) Morphious is the greek god of dreams 2) Trinity means "the power of three" (not sure what this is refering to) 3) (this wont be in your dictionary) neo is an anagrame of "one" as in the one. It also means "to be reborn" (the rebirth of the very first person to escape the matrix)in some langauge, and "amature hacker". Hope this helps!

To Mirima JJ and all readers -- Please allow me to elaborate. If Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams and sleep, then that must mean that he controls sleeping and dreaming. And what does Morpheus in the movie do? He releases people from the Matrix, thereby awakening them and stopping the dream. --King Me the Great
