Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Easter Egg - MTV LoTR Parody

Using Disk One Of The 4-Disk Special Extended DVD Edition (Not the 2-Disk Set). Go to "Select a Scene" and go to the very last scene on the selection which should be #27 "The Council of Elrond". Press Down Once and you should see a little ring next to "New Scene". Select it and Peter Jackson should come on telling you that you've stumbled across a surprise. Which is the MTV parody done at the last MTV Movie Awards with Jack Black and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Does this work for region 2? When I press down the menu just jumps back to scene 1. No ring appears.

Sorry, but when I pressed down, I was taken to the next screen. A little ring did not appear. I have the 4 disc special edition with the 30 min. of extra footage but it still didn't work. Perhaps someone else has managed to get it to work???

Bad news for region 2 disc owners - this Easter Egg only works on the region 1 edition of Fellowship Of The Ring. It is on both region 1 versions of the extended edition. I know this because I have the set with the polystone statues and a friend of mine has the version without the statues and we have both got this to work. Another friend has the region 2 version (with the statues) and the Easter Egg is not on his copy. Sorry!!!

This egg will not work on the UK version of the reigion two disk set as it was never passed for classification for the UK by the British Board of Film Classification. Because of this it also affects the Republic of Ireland and some other parts of Europe (depending upon the point of source). The BBFC told New Line that if this egg was included on the disk set it would earn a "12" classification (as the disk set was released before "12A" was launched). As such New Line pulled the egg off the UK version of the reigion two disk set, and cut just over a minute from the egg that is present on disk two (swearing dubed and hand gestures removed). Full reply from the BBFC can be for here: http://www.theonering.net/perl/newsview/8/1037274524

WARNING - This easter egg is not for everybody! This easter can be funny for some, but it's not for the whole family. The entire scene with Jack Black and SMG is about the ring and Jack's genitals. I would guess MANY fans of the Lord of the Rings will not be amused and will find it offensive.

This egg works (as far as I know) on all regions, but not the english version. I own R2, and it works fine!

The egg can also be located on the Scandinavian release, which was released by SF Film.
