Big Chill Easter Egg - Who Played the Body?

In the opening to The Big Chill, you see what appears to be a woman dressing a man (buckling his belt, brushing his hair, etc.) only to discover in the final frames that it is a body being dressed for viewing/burial. The body is the character, Alex, who was supposed to appear in flashback scenes, all of which ended up on the cutting room floor.

The actor playing Alex is good friends with Lawrence Kasden who was determined to use him in one of his films. The Big Chill was supposed to be his major motion picture debut, but all that remains of his performance is that opening sequence and his face is never shown.

The actor in the role of Alex (uncredited) was Kevin Costner.
