Godfather III, The Easter Egg - Coppola's Father

In the godfather part III, the man directing the band at Michail's papal award reception is actually director Francis Ford Coppola's father Carmen. This follows the use of his daughter in films one and three, and his sister in all three films. His father is a professional musician, a flutist to be exact. There was another scene deleted from part II intended to be dedicated to his father, where a young boy plays the flute in his father's gun shop. Younger Vito (Robert Deniro) and Clemenza visit this man and the boy plays the flute. This scene is included on the dvd bonus disc. There are many slip-ups that I have discovered, but slipups.com is too full.

Carmine (also sometimes credited as Carmen) Coppola was the composer of the musical score for all three Godfather films, Apocalypse Now and many other Francis Ford Coppola movies. He also had a cameo in the first Godfather film and appeared in two or three other of Francis's films.
