Crowe, Cameron Easter Egg - Director's Pal

Cameron Crowe has directed a handful of movies, and every one of them features actor Eric Stoltz somewhere in the show.

Fast Times at Richmont High (didn't direct, but wrote, right?)--Eric is one of Spicolli's buds

Say Anything--Eric hosts the post-graduation kegger.

Singles--Eric is the angry mime (even thought I think it looks like Chris Cornell of soundgarden ((who actually makes an appearance later)) ).

Jerry Maguire--Eric is one of the guys at that party for Jerry, right? I think so.

I haven't been able to find out exactly why, but Stoltz wasn't in Crowe's latest movie, Almost Famous. Does anyone know why?

Same goes for director/producer Garry Marshall and actor Hector Elizondo, whom Marshall considers a kind of "good luck charm", and as such is offered a role in all of Marshall's pictures.

Actually he was in Almost Famous, as an un-credited party-goer

This is the first Cameron Crowe movie not to feature a cameo by Eric Stoltz. Stoltz was supposed to appear on a theater marquee that said "The Crazy World of Eric Stoltz" but that didn't work out due to budgeting. Although, while the theatrical version doesn't feature Stoltz, Crowe stated in the "Untitled" DVD commentary that the Untitled version does include a reference of some sort to Stoltz, thus keeping the streak alive. Crowe encourages fans to try and find the reference in the film.
