I believe the true writer of ZIM is Jhonen Vasquez. Those episodes written by Hummel without Vasquez (the true creator) are rather bad.

actually many episodes are written by people other than Jhonen and are quite good. seing as Jhonen does quite a lot on many parts of the series, no episode is really free of his influence though.

As a matter of fact, kiddies, the regular writers are Roman Dirge (creator of Lenore) and Jhonen Vasquez, but other people do contribute. Watch the bloody credits!

Actually, all of the writers for IZ were wonderful. Jhonen just "mangles" their stuff until it's good. Allowing other people to write the episodes allowed for less work for poor Jhonen (^^) and different senses of humor that give the show a variety of things to laugh our heads at. In fact, many of the lines people are always quoting and are considered memorable were NOT thought up by Jhonen.
