Enterprise Easter Egg - Pilot Character Names

In 'Broken Bow', the pilot episode of 'Enterprise', there are several character names.

Three of the characters that send the Enterprise crew on their first mission into space are Admirals Forrest, Williams and Leonard,
named for the stars of the original Star Trek series - William Shatner (Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (Spock) and DeForest Kelley (McCoy). Since the crew represent Earth's pioneers, this is a tip of the hat to the three that started off Star Treks popularity.

Also, first contact with a Klingon is made by a character called Famer Moore, who shoots him with a plasma shotgun. He is named for writer Ronald D. Moore, who wrote a lot of the Klingon-heavy stories in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space 9, such as the Next Generation episodes 'Redemption' and 'Reunion'.

Very easy to find out this kind of information. Would you like to know who ends up leaving the Enterprise at the end of the next movie, who gets married, and who has cameos?

How do you know this? ENTERPRISE does not start until Sept 26.

Admiral Forrest in the pilot most likely *was* named after DeForest Kelley. The starship Nathan Bedford Forrest, you see, takes its name from a famous Confederate general who later was among the founders of the Ku Klux Klan. As altogether too many users of this site have to point out, a bit of reading and some knowledge of things other than television, movies, and comic books really comes in handy. Of course, one also could simply type "Nathan Bedford Forrest" into a search engine, as I did when my memory failed me on specifics of Forrest's life.

You may be referring to the Forrestal - named after the decomissioned US aircraft carrier (CV-59) which in turn is named after James V. Forrestal - a navy seaman and pilot who was Secretary of the Navy under FDR and the first Secretary of Defense under Truman. And I don't think he had anything to do with the Klan.

Actually, according to Star Fleet Battles, which is based on the original series, one of the Battle Cruisers of that time is the "Nathan Bedford Forrest", in tribute to an old admiral, so the Enterprise series' Admiral Forrest is probably this Nathan Bedford Forrest.
