I'm not sure of the exact point in the movie, but i know what's happening. You know the part where Evalyn's at one of her classes. There's this blond lady with short curly hair who's talking. That's the writer of the book "Fried Green Tomatoes at Whistle Stop Cafe".

Fannie Flagg was actually a meteorologist in the city of Birmingham, AL before she wrote the book. A place called Whistle Stop actually exists right by some railroad tracks in east Birmingham.
