Josie and the Pussycats Easter Egg - Take the Chevy to the Levee

At the end of the opening scene in the movie, the slimy record producer -- played by Alan Cumming -- tells the pilot of his band's chartered plane to "take the Chevy to the levee." They then both jump out of the plane and let the plane crash. Later, they nearly repeat the "accident" with Josie and the Pussycats on board.

The pilot is one of the co-directors of the movie, Harry Elfont.

Yeah...isn't funny how they used take the "Chevy to the levee" as in the Don McClean song "American Pie"...which was about the PLANE crash that took the lives of the Big Bopper, Richie Valens, and Buddy Holly.

Little D writes:
Two things: 1) The singer of "American Pie" has said that he didn't actually write the song about the deaths of Richie, Big Bopper and Buddy. 2) The lines from "American Pie"; Tara Reid was in the movie American Pie, as was Eugene Levy, who has a cameo. In fact, his cameo was shot on the set of American Pie 2.

The plane that Big Bopper, Richie Valens, and Buddy Holly died in was named the 'American Pie' and he goes on to sing about the day that music died.. three legends died in one day... Hmmmm coincedence...
