X-Files Easter Egg - Mommy, Why Did You Name the Show After Me?

The X-files episode, Piper Maru is named after Gillian Anderson's Daughter, Piper Maru Anderson, the cutie :). WHo knows why but they did. And if you are a true X_PHILE you should already know this.

The boat is also the Piper Maru, which boat was Drop Dead Red? I guess I have to watch that ep again, but I'm missing 15 minutes of it. :-( Yea, I have the whole series except for that much, and 3 more eps.

The wrecked Mustang at the bottom of the sea in that episode had the words "Drop Dead Red" painted on it...IIRC it was supposed to be escorting a bomber with an a-bomb to Japan, or something...

The Japanese also use 'maru' in the names of their ships (I'm not sure of the exact reason). For example 'The Kobayashi Maru' from Start Trek II.

I read it somewhere, and maru means "peaceful waters" or something like that.....also, it's the name of the episode, not the show...

Maru is not only Japanese for "ship", which was particularly fitting for the episode, but it's also Polynesian for "calm, gentle" which is primarily why Gillian Anderson gave her daughter that name.
