Lion King, The (Disney) Easter Egg - Air Force Academy Appears

As the hyenas are marching by in a military fashion, take a look at the ground they are marching on. It is the Terazzo from the United States Air Force Academy. One of the animators had a relative attend the Air Force Academy and slipped it into the movie.

I have a question, when the Hyenas are marching, WHAT IS THAT GRID THEY ARE MARCHING ON?? Is that what you are talking about? If it is, it is most certainly not on the wall. Its the lit grid on the ground when the Hyenas are marching in sync and singing the backup to Scar. Since this movie came out I have been wondering why it is there. If this is Airforce THANK YOU for finally answering my question, and if it isn't does anyone know why its there. And if its just my copy of the tape, it would be nice to know anyway :)

I am heavily into world war two and if you DO notice the way the hyenas march is the same way the Nazis marched. The way they march in unison and the way they all look to scar at the same time is in fact goose stepping! I have a video from world war two where they do the same thing!

I just want to thank everyone for NOT mentioning that "there was at least one Mickey or S-E-X reference!!!!" I have been reading some of these egg postings and I am left wondering... WHY are people looking for the references to sex??? I have watched many Disney films and I NEVER thought to slow down my VCR to see if I could find S-E-X in them. Why did all these people think to slow down and view??? I personally think it is much more funny to watch these in fast forward or rewind... !!!

to Drache_Mitfahre, we actually watched a lot of Disney movies in my World history class while we were learning about WWII. We came to the conclusion that people at Disney must be fascinated with Fascism. That's the deal with the marching scene

This is a good egg, because it actually is enjoyable, not like the never-ending list of hidden words (SEX, anyone?)

actually scar quotes hitler when he says "stick with me and you wil never go hungry again" - that is what hitler said in one of the 1939 nuremburg rallies where he promised the german people that he would never let another recession hit, and would lower unemployment.

Wow. I attend the air force academy and i just found out about this. The picture does look alot like the academy terrazzo. The only difference is that the hyenas are not doing a proper eyes right. But, if this really is supposed to be the academy, then that means the Scar is supposed to be the superintendent. That is funny.

it's an imitation of the Nazi's marching in Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will, which ties in with the characterisation of Hitler in Scar, when he says 'stick with me and you'll never go hungry again'. It's basically a reference to dictatorship :)

This is stupid they are just marching like an army! it has nothing to do with Hitler or Nazis! and MAYBE just maybe this is supposed to be the Terazzo, but you know, it could just be a grid because armies stand in straight lines.

@harfyyn you're wrong. There was no Nuremberg rally in 1939!
