Pop-Up Video Easter Egg - What the Artist Didn't Want You to Know

On many episodes of Pop-Up Video and the very end of the show right before the credits the producers flash a screen with all the comments they were going to make on the show, but were told to cut out by the artist.

How do I see this? I tried taping a few of the episodes and advancing frame by frame at the end, but I could not find anything.

Haven't seen them myself but just a guess; you might try another frame rate (tape speed)

I guess this might have gotten out, and annoyed some people, so they stopped doing it at some point. I watched the end credits of a show very carefully without blinking, and didn't see anything flicker. I should have seen *something* odd if there were any hidden frames in there. TV's not *that* fast.

TIP: Tape all show's that you suspect might have a visual eegg in them in the SLOWEST RECORDING SPEED POSSIBLE, so that you may see every frame possible when in pause or frame-by-frame play.

I read something about this egg a few years ago. You can only catch the message on regular episodes [not the special episodes...'the 80's', 'all girls', etc.] The message briefly appears in between the last video, when the screen fades to black and right before the credits pop up. I've tried reading the messages frame by frame but my vcr at the time sucked. But the messages are there!

Yup, Tis true. I actually work for Pop-Up Video (Spin The Bottle) and during the first season, our wily producers used subliminal messaging because those are the kinds of guys they are. VH1 found out by the second season and made them stop.

Correction, Trp. You want to record at the FASTEST possible speed. This will stretch out each second of video over the longest possible bit of tape. Recording at a slower speed reduces the amount of tape used for each frame, which is not what you want if going frame-by-frame is your goal. So if your options are SP (standard play) and LP (long play), go with SP.

OK, I've taped the ends of the last few episodes I've caught, and first off, the screen doesn't go black between the last video and the credits. None of them were specialty episodes, either. Anyone know which line-ups contain some of these messages?
