No, most likely the K is used because it is on the west coast. The east coasts stations on the radio usually always start with W, as do the west coast start with K. (-_-)

KACL FM is a real station in BISMARCK, ND KACL AM/TV/DT are not current stations. Just something I wanted to share, thanks to the Federales...

I also read / heard the the call letters were based on the west coast K and then initials that had something to do with the producers names or their wives' names. However, since it is a talk radio, I find it especially amusing that when sounded out, KACL = cackle. (Thanks to my son Josh for pointing this out).

I heard the K stood for Kelsey... as in Kelsey Grammer, the guy who plays Frasier? (This makes more sense too, hehe)

Following September 11, 2001, the call letters are never spoken, the job was just referred to as "The radio station". The 'A' in KACL is for David Angell who, along with his wife, perished in the crash of the second WTC tower. Two references are made in the series finale - an 'angel' chorus at Martin's wedding and the new baby's name is David.
