That's not such a big deal. My buddy is a TV commercial producer. Whenever someone is mentioned by name in a shot, the standard practice is to use the name of a real person. The reason is they can then have that real person sign a release saying permission was given to use the name. Otherwise, folks who happened to have the same name would come out of the woodwork and sue, claiming that the implied endorsement of the product by them is somehow defamatory or fraudulent. Most names you hear in commercials and on shows are the names of actual production assistants, secretaries, janitors, etc.

I got a question: Where do they show the title of the episode? I have never seen one, and I've been wanting to know. BTW you may also have to mail the response to me because I rarely get to check this website

In the episode where Homer rounds up a group of guys to go to the Superbowl, the travel agent was named Wally Kogen.

Speaking of using real names for TV characters, I'm reminded of the episode where the Simpsons watch the new mid-season series destined for failure. One of the shows was a cop show featuring a cool guy named Homer Simpson. Naturally this gives Homer an ego boost...until the network turns the character into a complete buffoon, making him more true to life.

Another note about the Canadian Football League scene. The logo on the tv really is the logo for the CFL and at one time the Canadian sports anchormen really did (I swear!) wear bright orange sportsjackets. In fact, I think that's the most accurate reference to Canada on the Simpsons. Well, except for singing O Canada once or twice.
