My Comment is about the High School mentioned. I have a friend who graduated from that High School in California. If you check, they did not use that school for filming. What happened, is that they wanted to use that school, but the School Board wouldn't let them....so they had to use a different school. Thus the reason the say "No thanks at all to **** High School". It may even say School Board.

What school is it, or is this being censored?

They originally _had_ permission to use this particular school, and had everything all set to go. The School Board, specifically mentioned as no thanks to, pulled privilege when they read the scene where Tatum, Stu, Randy, Billy, and Sid sat around outside discussing the murders during lunch. When they wouldn't cut it, they forced them to relocate at the last minute at great expense. The Audio-commentary details all of this, and they thank the school they did use; the name escapes me.

I go to the school that is mentioned in the disclaimer. Our school mascot is a panther and if you look carefully n the background of one of the scenes where Neve Cambell is talking to her friends at her locker, you can see a yearbook her friend is holding up that has our schools panther symbol on it. Also, in the background of the school there is a wall that is painted with that same symbol. The building resembles our school a lot and and is set up like our school. Also, an F.Y.I., our principal approved our school, but the district never did. Once they found out that there was going to be a teen slasher film at our school, they were afraid it would be too controversial to be filmed here.

The name of the high school used in this movie is Woodsboro it shows it on the building the morning after the murders of Casey and Steve, just before Sidney finds out about this from her friend Tatum.

The "Woodsborro" name on the school was put there for the movie. The film took place in the fictional town of Woodsborro, California. The actual location for the shoot was at the Community Center in the small town of Sonoma, CA.

Movies are shot in my city all the time and local schools are always used. There is often fake names on the sides of the schools.

The school is Santa Rosa Highschool, and in the credits it says "And no thanks whatsoever to the Santa Rosa School Governing Board". It tells all about this in Kevin Williams biography "From Scream to Dawson's Creek". The actual "school" in the movie is a local building that used to be an elementary school, but is now used for public organizations and wasn't under the same jurisdictions as Santa Rosa.
