Excalibur Easter Egg - A Family Affair

In the 1981 movie "Excalibur", director John Boorman's three children appeared. Most fans of the movie know his son Charlie played the young Mordred, Arthur's son/nemesis. What some don't realize is that his daughter Katrina played Ygraine, Arthur's mother, in the beginning of the movie.

The real Easter Egg is the identity of actress who portrayed The Lady of the Lake. It had been a mystery for a while. She was never mentioned in the credits and no one seemed to be able to identify her, but it was finally revealed that it was Boorman's other daughter, Telsehe.

holy #*%@! did NOT know that about her.. I knew her last name was boorman, but I thought maybe sister or even wife (although that would be just as bad..) now granted I'm not a father, but I can't see directing my daughter in that sex scene she has with the actor that plays Uther. whoa... john boorman has got to have nerves of steel for that..

Yeah, his other daughter became the Lady of the Lake because nobody else wanted to do it. The water was too cold, I guess.

If you listen to the Director's Commentary track on the "Excalibur" DVD, John Boorman talks about directing his daughter in the sex scene with Gabrielle Byrne, who played Uther. He mentions that it was a bit awkward, but she was very professional and after the initial qualms he had about it, she became simplay an actor. The footage came off (sorry the pun) well, albeit awkward. This scene has often been considered the clumsiest love scene ever filmed. Do you know how hard it must have been to make love in a suit of armor?
