Scream Easter Egg - Krueger's Shirt

In the first film, at some point when Sidney goes to the toilet, the janitor outside is wearing a striped red and black shirt - The same one worn by Freddy Krueger in the 'Nightmare on Em Street' films.

In the sequel in the first scene featuring Sidney, when she wakes up in the morning, the same shirt can be seen hanging in her wardrobe as she goes past.

Um, Freddy's Sweater is Red and Green, not Red & Black... It's kinda dirty though, so it is hard to tell.

I can't believe you missed this one! But you seemed have forgotten the fact that the janitor is Wes Craven himself! The guy who directed both movies!

Also, there was a scene where Henry Winkler (the Principal & the Fonz) hears a noise outside his office, and when he checks, he sees hte janitor, wearing the sweater AND the hat, and he calls him Fred. Kind of obvious, huh?

I saw that ages ago. I can't believe people didn't notice that the janitor's actually called Fred, because when the principal heard a noise, he went outside and looked around. The janitor looked up, and I remember the principal saying, "It's nothing, Fred!"

I'm in agreement with Matt. The point of Easter Eggs is to make a film all the more enjoyable for having watched other films somehow linked by actors, directors, genre etc. The point of Scream is to provide recognisable factors for fans of horror films, and I believe the film, although unsubtle, does this very well.

On the same theme Henry Winkler's character after seeing Fred in the Hall looks in his wardrobe and hanging up apparently is the leather jacket he used to wear as the Fonz

the point of this person's e-egg was not to point out the Freddy Krueger scene because that was obvious and supposed to be a joke. the persons intention was to mention the fact that the shirt worn by "Freddy" is found in Sidneys closet in the sequel...that was the e-egg being pointed out.

Well if scream is such a great movie why was scream a major part of the scary movie which was made to take the mic out of it?

In case no one knew, the janitor outside the principal's office wearing Freddy Kruger's shirt and hat, and, belive it or not, pants, is Wes Craven, Director of Scream, and the entire outfit is in fact the exact same outfit used in "Nightmare on Elm Street".

Yes. The janitor's name is Freddy, yes he's dressed like Freddy, yes Freddy was a Janitor before he was killed by the angry parents in the NoES movies, but... The janitor in Scream is mopping right where one of Freddy's first victims was killed in the original Nightmare. It's the same school too.
