Army of Darkness Easter Egg - Sam Raimi Cameo

In the scene where Ash is trying to rally the townsfolk into fighting the Deadites, a bearded man raises his hand and says something like, "I'll lend you my steel." THAT is Sam Raimi, the guy who has brought us the wonderful "Evil Dead" movies.

I don't think that's Sam Rami. I believe thats his brother Ted Rami, who appears in almost every one of sam's projects (AOD, Xena, etc). They look alike and I haven't checked the credits.. So I could be wrong.

You not only could be wrong, you are wrong. Nicki is right; the bearded knight who says "You can count on my steel" (or similar; his character is called "Knight in Sweatshirt and Sneakers" in the Internet Movie Database) is indeed Sam Raimi. Don't bother checking the credits, though. All of Sam Raimi's cameos in the "Evil Dead" series ("Evil Dead", "Evil Dead2", and "Army of Darkness") are uncredited. Note that Ted Raimi (Sam's brother) *does* get a credit playing three separate roles ("Cowardly Warrior/Second Supportive Villager/S-Mart Clerk" according to the IMDB) in the movie.

In the scene where King Henry's men are coming to join the battle against the Deadites, the raider in the middle of the screen is wearing jeans, a brown t-shirt, and a pair of sneakers. And, yes!!!, that IS Sam Raimi.

It is Ted Raimi. If you have the Special Edition DVD with the commentary track, Sam Raimi mentions that that person is his brother Ted, who also plays two other roles in the film.

"I will lend you my steel" is Ted Raimi. If anyone has seen the "Making of Army of Darkness" they would know this. Sam Raimi DOES have a part in the movie though, he is one of Henry's Men that is wearing tennis shoes and a sweatshirt in the final battle... Summary: Ted not Sam. You are idiots.

It is Ted Raimi! If you watch the special edition of "Army of Darkness" it clearly states during the making of the movie that the actor is indeed Ted Raimi. Sam is the guy with the sweatshirt and tennis shoes in the last battle.

Yes it is Ted but, I believe the actual line is, "You can count on my steel", the guy who does the lending is the archer who says, "I'll lend my bow to your will Sir". I may be wrong, it might depend on which version you watch as some lines change from one to the other.

Why do some people have to be so bitter and cruel when someone else makes a mistake? Anyway, it's like this: -"You can count on my steel" This is Ted Raimi, Sam's Brother, Joxer, etc. -When Henry the Red and his army charge in, a man in regular modern clothes can be seen bounding down the hillside with a sword. He does in fact look like a total loon when he does this, but he is in fact one of the greated directors of all time: Sam Raimi. Thank you and good night.

All right, I will settle this once and for all. Someone said that on the directors commentary Sam Raimi said that it was his brother, and that he played two more roles. I just got "The official Bootleg edition" which again has Sam Raimi's commentary. Ted Raimi, plays the man who says "You can count on my steel", a frightened knight, and provides the voice for a skeleton. Now in the realm of Sam Raimi's cameos, I don't know about the brown shirt/blue jeans, but I will look for it, however, the only true two that I know of is Bad Ash's skeleton (he provided the voice) and when Ash is being drug into the court yard at the beginning of the movie, a man comes out of the crowd and throws a huge rock right on his head. That is Sam Raimi. He did not play the "you can count on my steel" guy.

It's Ted Raimi and I can prove it. On the commentary for that scene on the directors cut Bruce and Sam confirm that it is Ted, not Sam.

The parts Sam Raimi plays is the voice of the first pit creature, the voice of Evil Ash when he is a skeleton, the voice of the evil force that chases Ash in the forest in all three movies, and when Ash is battling the she b**ch Sam is the man that yells "death to the witch".

Isn't Ted Raimi also the 'cowardly knight'? The one that says "I'm scared! We're going to DIE!"

I had to watch it a few times to spot Sam Raimi as he runs along with Henry's men. It's where you first see Henry's guys appear on the hill. Look at Henry. Then look at the two mounted warriors to his left (our right). Right behind those warriors is a crazy looking dude jumping up and down as he runs. He's wearing a brown sweatshirt and white sneakers, and wildly waving a sword. As he jumps, he works his way to his right (our left) until he's almost next to Henry himself.
