Magnolia Easter Egg - Kubrick Reference for Cruise Character

When Tom Cruise's character is about to start his 'Seduce & Destroy' seminar, he uses the Straus piece "Thus Spake Zarathustra" for his entrance.

That piece, of course, is most readily identified with the movie '2001: A Space Odyssey' by Stanley Kubrick, whom Cruise had recently worked with in 'Eyes Wide Shut'

This was quite apparently a little nod to the master by Paul Thomas Anderson, the director.

Actually, this wasn't planned to be in the film, but on the shoot Cruise brought the tape in and suggested they use it, and they did.

Actually that song is most identifiable with the clip of when men walked on the moon.
