Da Vinci Code, The Easter Egg - Kiss Her on the ... ?!?

While I'm sure some will contend that this isn't a genuine egg, it is in a sense, purposefully hidden information that is used in the film to try to strengthen the whole Magdalene/wife theory.

In the scene when Teabing is describing to Sophia the theory of the Grail being actually Mary Magdalene, he tells Sophia that in the Gospel of Phillip, it states that "Jesus often kissed her on the..." At this point, Sophia interjects and cuts him off.

The filmmakers expect you to assume that the completed phrase says that Jesus kissed her on the lips often, suggesting a marital relationship. The fact is is that the actual scroll from which this phrase was translated - part of the Dead Sea Scrolls - deteriates at this part of the sentence, and so scientists don't actually know how this line ends. While some suggest that it refers to Jesus kissing her on the lips, it could simply be another reference to kissing her on the forehead, which he does to many other disciples and people.

I thought it was pretty clever (sly) how they tried to incorporate this into the film, but having the sentence cut-off, so that even though no unfactual information was actually giving, inferences would still be made.

Pretty tricky, Ron! ;)
