A few years after the point where the movie ends, Jack (Richard Dean Anderson) has a new team with a new face: Air Force Major), Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping). Apparently the Major is a bit of an expert on the Stargate technology.

Passing through the gate to Abidos, Carter marvels at the Stargate controls on the other side. She says something along the lines of:

"It took us years and two super computers to 'MacGuyver' together a control system"

This is a reference to Anderson's previous work.
