Ya Hozna (Frank Zappa) Easter Egg - You Figure It Out

The WHOLE song Ya Hozna is backwards and sounds damn near the same when reversed! There a few decypherable phrases, the most destinct being Moon Unit Zappa's orgasmic, "Valley Girl" delivery of, "I'm like green! I'm like squat! I'm like soul! Repeat, like soul! I'm like pull, push, okay, like slow, slow. You're never too old, like slow, like slow, like slow, okay, I like it. All right, faster, faster, go, do it, do it twice, yeah, that feels good, I'm looking great. Yeah, fer sure! Like, no way!" Frank testified extensively at the "Porn Rock" PMRC congressional hearings in the 80's, and it seems that if albums were going to be labeled with warnings of "sexual content and backward-masking", he was going to make sure they were right! The album had all the lyrics listed except for this one song, where it just said, "backwards vocal, you figure it out."

The vast majority of this backward vocal is actually the vocal from "Sofa No. 2", sung by Napoleon Murphy Brock and George Duke. Clue, they are credited as vocalist on the song in sleeve notes, even though at the time of the "Ya Hozna" recording they hadn't been in Zappa's band for 9 years. The phrase "Ya Hozna" is the word "Sofa" backwards!
