Ixnay on the Hombre (Offspring) Easter Egg - Hidden Dialogue

At the very end of the last song on 'Ixnay on the Hombre' let the track play for a little while...After a short while you will hear a guy say
"You guys should try heavy metal, kiss my a$$. Ha ha!"

The voice is a famous man, I do not know his name, but he did a commercial for AT&T (I think) years back. He's the old guy and his voice is very distinct.

on my copy, it's "You guys should try heavy metal! Kiss my ass! Ha, ha ha.." And yes, they are a punk rock band.

The "woman" is Calvin (or Calvert) DeForest, better known as Larry Bud Mellman from the earlier/NBC episodes of David Letterman.

Punk ?? Maybe in comparison to American bands. Listen to The Damned or The Sex Pistols. Sorry but this really annoys me, Green Day and Blink 182 don't count either.

It's Calvert DeForest of Late Show w/ Letterman fame as well as 1-800-Collect commercials, not to mention Dominos Pizza Commercials way back when (how many of you remember those). Also, as far as classification goes, Offspring could be considered a mild form of punk if you only consider Ignition and Smash. Green Day could be said to draw on punk influences but not really be punk. However, if you listened to more of the album cuts (especially on Dookie) rather than the singles, you'd know that they like to draw heavily on 60's surfer drum riffs and the straight (non-psychedelic) "hard rock" sound of the late 60's/early 70's.

Ok is that a guy or girl? Who out of all of you can classify punk anyway is NOFX punk. Is blink 182, or greenday, or offspring, or hi-standard. Who cares if they say there punk then they are. They're the ones who define it not there crappy counter parts who can sell a cd to save their life. The sex pistols and clash were in the 70's. Last time I checked heavy metal from nowadays doesn't sound like it did in the 80's. I don't think I need to answer that just think about it and it will come to you.

First of all, It is Calvert DeForest saying, "I think you guys should try Heavy-Metal, kiss my ass! Ah ha ha! He is mentioned on the album sleeve. Second of all, the offspring are punk because they have a punk attitude. Their music may not reflect punk all the time but most of the time, it does. Dexter Holland said it himself!

Dave Grohl said once, "If you think you're punk rock for whatever reason, then you're punk rock!" Therefore, surely if the Offspring think they're punk, then they are?

This person can also be heard on The Offsprin's Cd "Americana" on the last track hidden song and possibly on Americana's song "Why don't you get a job?" (On Why don't you get a job it could also be some old british lady, cant really tell)

Just as a little extra bit of information, there was actually two versions of the hidden dialouge. On the vinyl version of Ixnay listeners were treated to the same voice telling them how to make a molotov Cocktail. Its kinda funny, but not really an egg so i didnt add it but yeah enjoy! :) kami
