Mystery Men Easter Egg - William Shatner Out-Take References
In Mystery Men, there are a few references to a William Shatner out-take. I don't know where the out-take comes from, but it's been playing from time to time on the Howard Stern show (from pre-Mystery Men days).
First Reference:
From the scene where the Mystery Men attach Casanova Frankenstein's limo:
Mr. Furious: Are you correcting me? Don't correct me! I'm a Pantera's box you do NOT want to open!
Casanova Frankenstein: That's Pandora's Box.
Mr. Furious: DON'T CORRECT ME. IT SICKENS ME.
Second-Reference:
Shortly after their "victory" at the limo, they go to a bar to celebrate. After leaving the bar, the Bowler and Mr. Furious are arguing about how to pronouce sabotage.
I'll try to spell it like they're pronouncing it:
One is saying, you say "sabotoge" (toge pronounced like the o in, say, "otter"), I say "sabotaage" (taage pronounced like the a in "bat").
The "it sickens me" and the pronunciation of sabotoge are both things from some Star Trek outfit.
In one, Shatner is practicing a "Spock! Sabotoge the engines" line and is doing the "taage" thing. He is corrected and tells the person correcting him, you pronounce it "sabotage", I say "sabotoge". He then goes on to say "Don't correct me, it sickens me".
