X-Files Easter Egg - Other "Hollywood Ad" Eggs
In "Hollywood AD", the episode, Chris Carter and Bill Milliar (the Visual Effects Producer) are also in the audience of the movie premier. Steve Kiziak, Duchovny's stand-in, was Tea Leoni's date at the premier. Duchovny's dog Blue is the dog sitting in Tea's chair when Mulder and Scully arrive on the set of the movie. The soundstage they arrive on is actually where the X-Files is shot. The person who brings Mulder and Scully to meet Gary Shandling and Tea Leoni is actually Duchovny's assistant, Kevin Cooper. The names on the tombstones at the begining of the show are actual names of obscure, deceased directors that Duchovny researched and had put in. The line "There's music in the air" is from the tv show "Twin Peaks", where Duchovny played a crossdressing FBI agent. These can all be verified on the Fox X-Files web site. When Scully points out to Mulder that Gary Shandling seemed to have a crush on him, it is a reference to "The Larry Sanders Show". This show starred Gary Shandling as a Johnny Carson style host, where David Duchovny seems to have a crush on Larry Sanders (Shandling) after having been a guest on his talk show. Duchovny actually won a comedy award for this episode of "Sanders". Anyone who has seen Duchovny on "Sanders" can pick up on this.
