Superman: The Animated Series Easter Egg - Who Is Terrible Dan Turpin?
In all episodes with Terrible Dan Turpin, the Metroplis PD "loose cannon", second in command to Maggie Sawyer on the Metahuman Squad, Turpin is visually modeled in a very comic-booky way on Jack Kirby, the legendary comic artist. Kirby worked on the Superman books in the 70's, and created, among others, the character of Dan Turpin.
