SpongeBob Squarepants Easter Egg - SpongeBob's Secret Other Pet
Occasionally on the show, in scenes that take place in SpongeBob's bedroom, a cage with a clam in it can be seen in the the background. This pet clam has appeared in several episodes, but is never mentioned or pointed out within the show.
On the Complete 1st Season DVD special features, there's an interactive tour where Patchy the Pirate reveales that its name is Shelly.
