Cars Easter Egg - Gas-Station and Toy Story Reference

Right near the beginning of the movie when the commentators first introduce the race, they mention that it is sponsered by Dinoco. Its obvious that Dinoco is the gas station featured in Toy Story and the Cars symbol of it is exactly the same.

Lastly, there is another Toy Story reference. Mater and Lightning are like Buzz And Woody. Mater was the guy in his town that wasn't new ( and had a voice like Woody), while Lightning was like Buzz, who was new to the town. This and other Toy Story references could be to mark the 10th Anniversary of the first Pixar movie, which was in 1995.

Okay, your dinoco gas station catch is a good one. But I think its a bit of a stretch trying to link the characters from the two movies in the way you do. There are parallel similarities between characters and character groups in infinite films. These similarities are not necessarily important, intentional, or relevent in the least.

That's not exactly true. The Dinoco logo in Toy Story is a red brontosaurus. The logo in Cars is a red T-Rex.
