Series of Unfortunate Events, A Easter Egg - Sunny Translation

In the Slippery Slope (tenth book), on page 107, Sunny is communicating with Count Olaf before she starts preparing food. One thing she says to him is "Busheney" which means "You're an evil man with no concern for other people." If you look closely at the word "Busheney," you will notice that it is actually Bush and Cheney smushed together. Makes perfect sense, huh? Bush and Cheney? Evil men with no concern for other people?

Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) is a family friend, and after reading this I asked him if it was intentional, and yes, it was. It is not a fluke.

At the risk of being blacklisted, yes, some people do like Bush and Cheney.

Oh, yes. Those two "evil" men who deposed a tryant of one nation and freed another nation from an oppressive regime, and oh the "evil" of them giving people some of their money back too. I wish people who didn't like Bush and/or Cheney would leave it at that and not demonize them just because they don't like their politics. Do you think everyone whose opinion is not like yours is evil? And shame on the author for being such an idealogue and alienating a good portion of the audience who just wanted to enjoy a book and not be insulted by yet *another* childish political statement. You people are so brainwashed by the media, it's sick. Is there anywhere safe from the bias anymore?
