When woody needs to be fixed, the prospector guy who comes to fix him is Geri from the pixar short film, "Geri's Game." Also, in "Geri's Game," Geri is playing a game of chess. In one of the compartments of his box thingy is a few chess pieces.

I've also come to the conclusion that the voice of the cleaner was also in Mouse Hunt. This also explains the music from Mouse Hunt during Woody's cleaning.

Note that although Geri is a great craftsman, he plays chess against himself. Al, of course, is a total weirdo (who'd let their kids in his store after seeing his ads?). Message: adult men who play with/collect/know about dolls are a couple of bricks shy of a load.

This is not really an egg. The storyboard artists wanted another character for cleaning woody, but the designers said it would be to expensive, so they simply reused the Geri code. This is common in computers. You can also see furniture from Sids room in the yard sale, and reuse of many cars.

But the people at Pixar are grown men and women who play with toys. Why would they want to give the message that such people are weirdos? For the record, Geri isn't nuts just eccentric, and Al isn't a weirdo he's just an idiot.

I noticed that and told my brother and sister, with whom I was watching the movie, about it. I suppose that was a reuse of code for convenience, but it's still a pretty good egg. I didn't notice the chess pieces, but I think my brother might have, after I pointed out who Geri was.

Re: To Smelly Head: The re-use of the "Geri" code isn't the egg. The egg is since they re-used the "Geri" code they gave him a couple chesspieces in his toolbox. There's nothing else in that drawer - they obviously invoked the association.
