High Plains Drifter Easter Egg - Dead Directors

Right at the end of the film when Clint is riding out of Hell (Lagos), he goes past a midget who is painting a name on a tombstone. In the next shot you see 2 more tombstones to the left. The names on these are Sergio Leone (The Dollar Films) and Don Siegel (Dirty Harry). The two directors that made Clint a star.

Clint Eastwood also mentioned Sergio Leone in another one of his films (Unforgiven, I think), in which he dedicated the film to the late director. The reson for this was to acknowledge Leone for teaching Eastwood valuable lessons about directing movies.
