Scream Easter Egg - Linda Blair's Cameo

In an uncredited cameo, scream queen Linda Blair plays a news reporter outside the school trying to get a few words from Sydney(Neve) the day after her attack. She has one quick line and only a second or two on screen. This was a deliberate homage, as Wes Craven explained it on the audio commentary track of the DVD

Was Linda Blair the young girl on the Exorcist? I heard she was in this movie somewhere, as a cameo. I couldn't remember if it was the reporter woman or Casey's mother at the beginning.

Yeah, the reporter chick at the start (who yells "What's it like to be nearly brutally murdered?! People have a right to know!") is indeed Linda Blair, who was Reagan in The Exorcist. Not exactly an egg tho', if you heard it in Wes' commentary. (Sorry to sound like a butt hole.)

YES!!! I am pretty sure that we saw her. The reporter who yells to Sidney, definetly resembles Regan. And, no I didn't get this from the DVD commentary.

Yes, that is indeed Linda Blair from the Exorcist. I actually went to a horror convention a few years back and asked Linda about her cameo in Scream 2. She basically said she did it as a favor to Wes and had lots of fun being on set and everything. I even got an autograph from her that says "Sweet Dreams, Love Linda Blair". She was so nice to meet.
