Charlotte's Web Easter Egg - Charlotte's Web - Meaning Behind the Name Templeton

The name of the rat in Charlotte's Web was "Templeton". The author of the book was E.B. White who was a Fiji (Phi Gamma Delta). He named the rat after one of the founders of the fraternity (John Templeton McCarty). Pretty Cool insight.

Well, I think that E.B. White would know and care if it was a rat or a mouse, but I think that he is a rat because he is cute and likes to stash things in his hide-away.

The difference between a rat and a mouse could be considered in the terms that people feel about the animals and the way they've commonly been perceived (aka. you dirty rat). Maybe he didn't like the house founder, and equated him with a dishonest rat.
