Mechanical Animals (Marilyn Manson) Easter Egg - Secret Lyrics

Put the Mechanical Animals CD into your computer's CD drive and give it a minute. A screen displaying Manson`s artwork will come up. In the background, you can hear Manson reciting words.

Take the CD booklet out and open the booklet to any page in the second half of the booklet. Still open, slide the back of the booklet into the CD case. Secret text will be revealed. The words correspond to some of the songs and also the phrases that Manson says when you put the CD in the computer. It's quite entertaining.

A very subtle one that a lot of you might not have noticed is on the lyrics page for The Speed Of Pain - the faint blue text "Speed of pain" changes to "Freed of pain".

Ok... get your MA disk, stick it into a computer with the Macromedia Shockwave plug-in enabled (get it at www.macromedia.com... i think). The Cd will either Autorun, or, if you have autorun disabled, will require you to launch "start.exe", under D:/ ...you'll be able to listen to the song, as well as view two of Manson's earlier paintings. If you WANT the track, to stick on a disk or store as MP3 or whatever, you'll need to get Macromedia Director, a .dir file unprotecting program (do a web search), and a half-decent audio editor (...I advise Goldwave 4.26... loads of features, shareware, easy backmasking too...). Launch MANSON.DIR in Director, and find the file "nothing.wav" (in the Internal Cast window, click on the button in the top-left and choose MUSIC). Right-click on it, and choose to edit it with an external editor (to set one, find it under Properties > Editors...etc). Then, simply save the file to your chosen destination!!
